Dr. GEORGE WADIE, MD, FACS, FAAP

Dr. George Wadie has been a pediatric surgeon for over 13 years.

He started his practice in Eugene, OR in 2007 where he was the only pediatric surgeon serving an area of a 150 miles radius. During this time, he developed the ability to provide very personalized and excellent care for children in need particularly the neonatal population.

In 2011, he moved to the Raleigh area where he joined WakeMed Physician Practices. During the last 10 years, Dr Wadie performed surgery on hundreds of children ranging from neonates to adolescents. He specializes in minimally invasive surgery, neonatal surgery and gastrointestinal surgery.

In 2016, he started the first adolescent surgical weight loss program in the state of North Carolina. The program offered procedures like the sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass to morbidly obese adolescents. He helped recruit specialized medical weight loss physicians to establish the first comprehensive weight management program in the region.

Dr Wadie also specializes in the management of pilonidal disease and is one of the few experts in the country successfully managing this condition. Because of his high success rate, he started offering his expertise to adult patients. Our pilonidal center is the only comprehensive center for managing pilonidal disease in the Southeast region of the country.

In 2021, Dr. Wadie decided to establish a private pediatric surgery practice outside the hospital setting to be able to take better care of his patients. This allows him to offer more personalized care, Implement a standardized approach to all patients, remove several boundaries that limit patient access to care and offer the patients more financial flexibility by accepting most insurance plans.
